A POEM TITLED DADDY

I could has chosen a poem by
a well known poet, but instead
I chose to post a poem written
by my daughter, Deann, for her
dad one father's day.

Daddy

It seems like only yesterday that
I was your "little girl," and you
were my Daddy--more precious
than a pearl.

As time passed, and the years flew
by, they changed us gradually. You
came to be simply Dad, and I was
your "young lady."

Now that I am all grown up with a
family of my own, I've come to
realize one thing that you've probably
always known.

No matter what my age is-- whether
three or ninety-three--You're really
still my Daddy, and you forever more
will be.

TEA AND FRIENDSHIP TUESDAY

While visiting my daughter I spied this teapot
as soon as I walked through the door. She had
it displayed in her foyer as you enter her home.
It is so pretty and one of my favorite colors
lavender and purple. I did get her permission
to take a picture and share it here with you all
for Tea and Friendship Tuesdays.

Pictured above is how she has it displayed along
with her white bear decked out in purple and
lavender and the two boxes holding the cup and
saucer that matches the teapot. Wishing everyone
a glorious Tea and Friendship Tuesday.

THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE

Yesterday afternoon my husband and
I spent a delightful time enjoying the
musical Thoroughly Modern Millie at
the Gallaway Theater on the campus
of the University of Alabama. Our
granddaughter, Katie, played Millie.
Despite having sinus trouble she put
on a performance of a life time. We
are so proud of her. The whole cast
did a great job. I enjoy watching these
young people more then I guess a true
Broadway Show but, if Iwere given
tickets to a Broadway show I would
not turn them down.

It is a beautiful day here in Pinson, Alabama. More
like summer then spring. I still have a few more
pots to plant flowers in but I am just taking it easy
today enjoying this weather. The planting can be
done another day. Later on this afternoon we have
to drive over to our son's house to check on his dog,
make sure she has water and food. If there are
any yard sales on the way we will stop and see what
we can find. Hope wherever you are you are having
a good day.

ARBOR DAY

As you can see we do not need anymore trees
in our yard. So I will not be planting a tree this
Arbor Day. Instead I am going out and buy
flowers to plant in the many pots I have sitting
around that need some color to brighten them
up. Have a great Arbor Day, plant a tree or flowers
to brighten this day set aside for keeping the
earth green and beautiful.

REDHEADED WOODPECKER

He is in the middle of the large tree.
A much better view.

While my husband was out on the deck, today, grilling
salmon for lunch. He came running in the house
yelling where is the camera, where is the camera.
I grabbed the camera and ran out onto the deck
and to my surprise there were these two huge
red headed woodpeckers hunting for bugs in the
trees and on the ground. They were much bigger
then the ones that have made their nest in the
limb of the tree outside my bedroom window. Above
are the pictures I captured. Click pictures to enlarge.

TEA AND FRIENDSHIP TUESDAY

~~ On The Wings Of a Butterfly~~
Your friendship is special like
the flowers that bloom, or when
a butterfly emerges from within
its cocoon....
You remind me of that butterfly,
loving and free, bright and
colorful, for the world to see...
We will share sunshine and rainbows;
sometimes, the rain and the snow;
We'll stand together through it,
while the cold wind blow...
When the time if right, we won't stop
to ask "Why" our friendship will take
flight on the wings of a butterfly...
~Corky Ferguson~

Have a wonderful Tea and
Friendship Tuesday.

ANGEL LUSH DESSERT

I thought I'd share this recipe for this very easy

and quick dessert.

1 can (20 oz.) DOLE crushed pineapple, undrained

1 pkg.(3.4 oz.) JELL-O vanilla flavor instant pudding

1 cup thawed COOL WHIP whipped topping

1 angel food cake (10 oz.) or 12 dessert shells

Mixed berries

Mix pineapple and dry pudding mix in medium bowl.

Stir in whipped topping. If using dessert shells fill

shells and top with berries. Chill one hour. Makes 12

servings. If using angel food cake. Cut angel food cake

horizontally into three layers. Fill layers with filling. Top

with filling and berries. I have done both and found

the dessert shells to be the easiest. I top mine with

strawberries. Either way my family liked this very
simple dessert.

musical personalities that call Alabama their home.

THE LEGEND OF THE RAINDROP

The legend of the raindrop has a lesson for us all
As it trembled in the heavens questioning whether
it should fall...For the glistening raindrop argued
to the genie of the sky, "I am beautiful and lovely
as I sparkle here on high, and hanging here I will
become part of the rainbow's hue and I'll shimmer
like a diamond for all the world to view"...But the
genie told the raindrop, "do not hesitate to go, for
you will be more beautiful if you fall to earth below.
For you will sink into the soil and be lost a while from
sight, but when you reappear on earth, you'll be
looked on with delight; for you will be the raindrop that
quenched the thirsty ground and helped the lovely
flower to blossom all around, and in you resurrection
you'll appear in queenly clothes with the beauty of
the lily and the fragrance of the rose; then when you
wilt and wither, you'll become part of the earth and
make the soil more fertile and give new flowers birth"...
For there is nothing ever lost or ETERNALLY
NEGLECTED, FOR EVERYTHING GOD EVER MADE
IS ALWAYS RESURRECTED.

GOOD FRIDAY

St. John...Chapter 19..Verse17
And he bearing his cross went
forth into a place called the place
of a skull, which is called in the
Hebrew Golgotha:

St. John...Chapter 19 Verse 30...
When Jesus therefore had received the
vinegar, he said, It is finished; and he
bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

AZALEA BUSHES AND VISITORS AND WISTERIA BUSHES

Here is a picture of two of my pink azalea bushes.
They are loaded down with blooms. While sitting
outside in my swing I noticed an unusual visitor
amongst the bumble bees. A tiny bumble bee
hummingbird was getting his fill of nectar. They are
the size of a bumble bee but with different markings.
Pictured below are a few of the photos I got of the
tiny thing. Click on pictures to enlarge.

Here he is a the top center of picture.

You can just barely see him on the top left of
picture.

Here is a bumble bee on the left of picture and
the bumble bee hummingbird top center of
picture.

He is at top center of this picture. Notice the 2
yellow stripes around his body,

He is just verily visible on the right side at top of
this picture.

Wisteria bush that has come up in the middle of
cactus bush. My husband has been keeping it
trimmed. This is the first year it has bloomed.

Close up view of same bush.

Same bush taken at a different angle.

Close up view of another bush. First time it
has bloomed.

Same bush as above.

DISAPPEARING GOLD FISH

I am not good at telling a story but I am going
to try. Once upon a time I had a beautiful fish
pond. In it I had waterlilies, water iris, and many
gold fish, at one time I had close to 100 fish. A few
years ago I noticed that my fish were disappearing.
They were not dieing because I could not find one
floating to the top of the water. Maybe I thought
raccoons. They just kept disappearing until only
one was left. He was around a few days then he
was gone. Lo and behold one day we came home
after having breakfast with some friends and there
on the bridge was the culprit pictured below who
had feasted on the gold fish and probably fed his
family. After seeing him on the bridge we saw
him and 2 others probably his mate and a youngster
in the trees around our pool. I now have a rock
garden where the pond was.

FIRST DAY OF APRIL

" April rain is here again;
Hear it pitter, pitter, patter,
On the leaves and on the trees,
See it spitter, spitter, spatter.
Rain, oh rain, don't go away
We need you for flow'rs in May;
Drip, drip, drop and do not stop,
Send a little rain our way."
~Nina B. Hartford~

"The first of April, some do say, is
set apart for All Fools' Day. But why
the people call it so, nor I nor they
themselves do know. But on the day
are people sent on purpose for pure
merriment."
~Poor Robin's Almanac, 1790~
