CHRISTMAS DAY AT THE BURTON HOUSE

I had Christmas here at my house.  We had
a lunch of ham, chicken nuggets (for the kids
who did not want ham), pizza rolls, pickles,
olivcs, salami, dip, potato chips, baby carrots,
jello with strawberries, french bread, and of
course pumpkin, pecan and chocolate pie plus
the goodies my guests brought.  We had a good
time and it was a blessing having my family
around me for this blessed day.

This is my daughter Deann and her two boys,
Joseph standing and Adam sitting.

This is my son Kenneth( with red sweater on) and
in the background once again Adam and Joseph and
my son-in-law Brian (Deann's husband).

This is my daughter Debra ( she is the one with the red scarf.
Grandson Eric, his wife Summer and their little girl with her back to us is Abigail.

This is my lovely granddaughter Katie. She lives in New York City and has a
role in an off Broadway play.  My grandson Eric again in the background.

My grandson Kris  is on the left holding red cup.  His mother Lisa my daughter-in-law

This me with all the grandchildren and great grandchildren who were able to come.
From left to right Adam, Joseph, Kris, Katie holding great grandchild Aaron, Eric
and sitting in front great grandchildren Abigail and Ethan. The lady in blue is me.

This is me ( in blue) with my children from left to right Deann, Debra, and Kenneth.

My youngest Daughter Kara and her family were with us in spirit.  They live
in Washington state and were unable to come.  She called that evening and they
had a wonderful Christmas.  All the grandchildren back there Logan, Drake, Peyton
and Bryce all wished me a Merry Christmas and thanked me for their gifts.
Also one grandson, Grant was sick unable to attend.  My oldest granddaughter,
Julie and her husband were not here they went to his  parents house.
As I said it was a blessing having my family, that were able to come, here with me
this Christmas.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

                                              What's Christmas

Christmas isn't about toys
Christmas isn't about money
Christmas is about giving food to the needy.
Christmas is about loving your family
Christmas is to get time to spend with your family.

What's Christmas
Christmas is about the holiday
Christmas is about loving what you get
Christmas isn't about sending cards
CHRISTMAS IS ABOUT LOVE

HAPPY FIRST DAY OF WINTER

                                  Winter Time

Icy fingers and icy toes, bright red cheeks and
bright red nose.
Watch the snowflakes as they fall, try so hard
to count them all.
Build a snowman way up high, see if it can
touch the sky.
Snow forts, snowballs, angels too, in the snow
so white and new.
Slip and slide and skate so fast, winter time
is here at last.

A VISIT TO SEE ZOOLIGHT SAFARI AT THE BIRMINGHAM ZOO

Last night my daughter, Deann, and her family took me to see the lights and
decorations at the Birmingham Zoo.  Above are some of the pictures that I
took they do not do it justice.  You have to see them in person they were just
beautiful.  They even had fake snow falling in places.  We walked around
looking at all the lights then we took the train ride to see more lights and even
Santa by the tracks.  It was a very enjoyable evening.  Thanks Deann, Brian,
Adam and Joseph for asking me to go with you.

CHRISTMAS ORANAMENT IN MEMORY OF MY HUSBAND KARL

Last night an angel from the Hospice Services
of Alabama delivered this beautiful ornament
in memory of my husband Karl. It will have a
special place on my tree. I am very grateful for
all they did when he was sick and for this very
generous gift. I will treasure it always.

CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS.

You who follow my blog know I love to decorate for
the holidays.  Above are some of my inside decorations.
The first seven are of my great room, kitchen and small
room off the kitchen.  Done in the colors of red, green and
white.  The next three are of my living room , which I call
my Victorian room.  Done in the colors of gold and pink.
The last is my Christmas tree in my computer room.  I did
not take a picture of the little trees I have in the bedrooms
                                         and bathroom.

WELCOME TO THE MONTH OF DECEMBER

"December finds himself again a child
even as he undergoes his age.
Cold and early darkness now descends,
embracing sanctuaries of delight.
More and more he stares into the night,
becoming less and less concerned with ends,
emblem of the innocent as sage
restored to wonder by what he must yield.
