THANKSGIVING DAY 2008
Pictured above are some of my family that were able
to come for Thanksgiving dinner. We had15 in all. They
all had a great time and are already looking forward to
next year.
We knew are grandson Eric's wife, Summer,
was expecting and pictured above was the
clever way our daughter let everyone know
Summer will have a little girl in March of next year.
She asked her dad if she could have the turkey
legs needless to say he had no idea what she
wanted them for.
After dinner some of the family went outside to walk around.
Ethan is pictured above with a mop he found and was pushing
the leaves around. After playing outside Ethan came in with the others, here
he is enjoying some cake. The others had either pumpkin
or pecan pie.

A THANKSGIVING WISH
In a world that's often too busy, may we
find in each of our days little ways to
slow the pace and enjoy simple, quiet
moments of thanksgiving.

A LITTLE THANKSGIVING HUMOR
May your stuffing be tasty
May your turkey plump,
May your potatoes and
gravy have nary a lump.
May your yams be delicious
and your pies take the prize,
and may your Thanksgiving
dinner stay off your thighs!
~Author Unknown~
My turkey is in the refrigerator
thowing out , the menu is
planned , pies will be baked
Wednesday, and all that is
left is to wait for Thanksgiving
Day when all my family that
can come will be here for a
Thanksgiving get together and
a good meal (I hope.)

CORN BREAD
My husband, who likes to cook, has a small 6 inch cast iron
pan which is just the right size to make corn bread for the
two of us. I have to admit he is a much better cook then I
am, and after cooking meals for the family for as long as I
did, I let him cook when ever he wants, which is almost
always.
Done to perfection and out of the pan, and boy was it ever
good. The whole meal was: baked chicken breast, sweet
potatoes sliced with cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on them
and green beans. For dessert we had chocolate pudding.

INSTEAD
INSTEAD of fretting over those things you
cannot control resolve to accept that which is--
let tranquility be your goal.
INSTEAD of feeling sorry when a close
relationship ends go out and revel in the true
joy of being among your friends.
INSTEAD of feeling that in life's chain you are
just another link--
Realize that your future is unbounded for you
have the ability .... to think.
INSTEAD of always griping about that which
you have not --
Why not say a prayer each day to God for
what you've got.

LONELY LITTLE SUNFLOWER
This morning when I went out to fill my bird feeders I
happened to look down and there under one of the bird feeders
was this tiny little sunflower amongst the fallen leaves. It
must of come up from one of the seeds a bird dropped. I don't
think it will survive for very long with the cold weather but for
now it is a ray of sunshine.

TAKE TIME
TAKE TIME to think -
it is the source of power.
Take time to read -
it is the foundation of wisdom.
TAKE TIME to play -
it is the secret of staying young.
Take time to be quiet -
it is the moment to seek God.
TAKE TIME to be aware -
it is the opportunity to help others.
Take time to love and be loved -
it is God's greatest gift.
TAKE TIME to laugh -
it is the music of the soul.
Take time to be friendly -
it is the road to happiness.
TAKE TIME to dream -
it is what the future is made of.
Take time to pray -
it is the greatest power on earth.

LEAVES AND MORE LEAVES
I just fell in love with this picture. The old timey house
and kids raking leaves and the fire brought back a lot of
memories. My children are all grown and married with
kids of their own, so now it is left up to my husband and I
to do the raking and burning. With the amount of trees
we have around our home it is a never ending job in the fall.
Below are some pictures of what the yard looks like this
morning. We had a little rain yesterday so we will have to
wait for the leaves to dry out some then the work begins.

THANKSGIVING DECORATIONS
The Halloween decorations have been taken down and
put up until next year. I spent the day yesterday putting
out the few Thanksgiving decorations I have. I took only
a few pictures. Here is one of my pilgrims, pumpkins and
and autumn bouquet.
I have many turkeys sitting around. Pictured here are
just 3. My great grandson will have fun playing with them.
Now for the outside. Pilgrims, turkey and pumpkins
on the side of my storage house (which holds all of my
outside decorations). All the decorations are made
out of wood, which my husband cut out for me, and I
painted.
This turkey is standing guard and giving
thanks for being a wood stake out and not
a real turkey and also reminding us to be
thankful of our many blessings.
I call this turkey my colorful turkey.
This picket fence is used in many of my holiday decorations.
The pilgrims are wood stake outs I painted many years ago.
They have really stood up quite well .

My little house (used for my gardening equipment) is
always decorated for the holidays. I think my husband
did a great job in designing the house.

COLORFUL NOVEMBER TREES
finally shown , I think, some terrific color. It seems like
over night they put on their brilliant colors. I took these
pictures after I finished putting out my Thanksgiving
decorations. It has been another beautiful day here in
central Alabama and I for one enjoyed the day. Will post pictures
of my Thanksgiving decorations later.
