THE FIRST DAY OF FALL
Autumn, Queen of Year
When pumpkins are so yellow and the vines with grapes abound, when the melons are so mellow and the nuts fall to the ground; when persimmons lose their bitters, and the apples are so red; when we love to eat corn fitters since the roasting ears have fled; when vacation days are over and the children go to school, they no longer play in clover, but must learn "Arithmos-rule," when weird Halloween's most naughty elves with gnomes and sprites appear, while fat Thanksgiving fills the shelves - tis Autumn, Queen of Year. ~Winifred Sackville Stoner, Jr.~
Autumn Fires
In the other gardens and all up the vale, from the autumn bonfires see the smoke trail!
Pleasant summer over and all the summer flowers, the red fire blazes, the grey smoke towers.
Sing a song of seasons! Something bright in all! Flowers in the summer, fires in the fall.
~Robert Louis Stevenson~

Hello, dear Madeline!
I'm happy to see that you can post images again!
Autumn is so beautiful... The yellow and red leaves give much light even on a cloudy day. Autumn is indeed the Queen, beautiful, mature and with character.
Thank you for your always enjoyable posts. Have a blessed day!
Dear Madeline, your header is gorgeous, and I always enjoy seeing your lovely posts. I love Autumn! I love the changing colours of the leaves, the cool, crisp air and the root vegetables (turnips, carrots, beets, etc.) in abundance and at great prices! :)
Hi Madeline!
I always enjoy the beautiful quotes on your posts.
It seems like summer just flew by. We have had a few cool fall preview days here, but it has been pretty warm for this time of year so far. I still had a hummingbird visiting the zinnias early this week, and so many monarch butterflies. They are so graceful floating around the zinnias. I know their days visiting here are numbered.
Soon the leaves will change color once we cool down. We can't hold on to summer forever.
May you enjoy a lovely Autumn.
