PUZZLE

Well I finished my last puzzle. It was a little
bit difficult because of the way the pieces were
cut, but to me it was not to bad because of all the
colors you had to work with.

SPRING LIKE WEATHER AND A GOOD BOOK

It was a spring like day here in central Alabama.
Temperature in the 60's. So I took advantage,
grabbed by book and glasses, and sat out on the
swing and read. There are 3 books in this series
by Nora Roberts. I am on book #1 and so far it
has held my interest and I am anxious to finish
it and get to the other two.

AFGHAN FOR SISTER-IN-LAW

I have finished another afghan. This one is for
my sister-in-law. She is in a nursing home and
I thought it would brighten up her room. Now I
have to find another project. Think I might work
on a jigsaw puzzle.

BRRRR ITS COLD

We had a heavy frost this morning. I just took
this picture of the thermometer on the front porch
and you can see it reads 31 degrees. It is susposed
to get colder the end of the week.

My holly bushes are pretty with their red berries
and their green leaves covered with frost. These
pictures were taken at 8:30 a.m.

NOCCALULA FALLS PARK

It was a pretty day here today. My husband and
I decided to take advantage of the nice weather
and take a drive up to Noccalula Falls Park that
is located in Gadsden, Alabama. With all the rain
we have had in previous days we knew the falls
would be spectacular and they were. The park
is named for a Cherokee maiden, Noccalula, who
plunged to her death, because she would not
marry the Indian brave her father had chosen for
her. She was in love with another.

Statue of Noccalula over looking the falls.

Another view of the statue. If you look
close you will see a rainbow on the right.

Plaque telling about Noccalula and why
she jumped.

Pretty rainbow. The mist from the
falls reminded me of Niagara Falls.

This is a double rainbow. The rainbows were
just beautiful.

The falls. Just to the right is a cavern where
one can walk down and go under the falls,
when the falls have just a little water going over.

The ducks stayed clear of the river it was just
too rough for them.

The footbridge was closed. It is located just
before the falls. You can see why the ducks
stayed on land.

The Nocca Choo-Choo was not running today.
When it is it takes riders around the park.

This is a wedding chapel, that is being built in
the park, that should be open in a few months.
We had a good day and enjoyed the beauty of
the falls especially the rainbows.

PILLOWCASES

I finished the pillowcases my
daughter gave me for Christmas.
They have been added to the
many pairs I have already done
waiting to be given away as gifts.

RAINDROPS

We have been having rain the
last few days. I took this picture
because the raindrops looked like
little jewels on this nandina bush.
I believe the older one gets they
see the beauty in all that God sends
us. Click on picture to see a much
better view.

JANUARY 1, 2009

A year to be glad in,
and not to be sad in,
To gain in, to give in,
A happy new year.
A new year for trying,
and never for sighing,
A new year to live in,
Oh, hold it most dear.

January

January opens
the box of the year
And brings out days
That are bright and clear.
And bring out days
That are cold and gray,
And shouts, "Come see
What I brought today!"

~Leland B. Jacobs~

Wishing everyone a Happy
New Year filled with love and
good health. God bless...Madeline
