HOLIDAY BAKING
Woke up to rain and thunder this morning.
A good day to start my holiday baking. I
made these 3 pumpkin breads which I will
freeze for part of the family. I still have 3
more to do for the rest of the family. I also
got a batch of gingerbread cookie dough
made and will bake them tomorrow. I
enjoy baking for my family and friends
when the holidays are here.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
Thanksgiving
The year has turned its circle,
the seasons come and go.
The harvest all is gathered in
and chilly north winds blow.
Orchards have shared their treasures,
the fields, their yellow grain,
so open wide the doorway--
Thanksgiving comes again.
~Old Rhyme~
He who thanks but with the lips
Thanks but in part; the full, the
true Thanksgiving comes from
the heart.
~J.A. Sheild~
Have a Happy and Blessed
Thanksgiving everyone.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY
Because of you, Unknown Soldier
Because of you, I am here. Because of you, I am
able to live freely.
Yet I do not know you and I have not done
anything for you.
But there you stand, ready to fight and there you
are prepared to die for me.
You've fought before and you'll fight again for
someone you don't know.
So thank you Unknown Soldier fighting for me
I'm here because of you and I owe my future to you.
~Courtney Tanabe
Many in my family have served this country . My Dad (WW1), my uncle
(WW2) my husband (Korean War), my brother (Navy) and many cousins.
I am proud of them all and for those still here with us I say thank you and
for those you have gone on to a better place I hope they knew how much I
loved them and appreciated their service.

SWEET GIFT FROM A SPECIAL BLOGGING FRIEND
Received this cute hanger and diabetic brown sugar from one of
my blogging friends BJ. She has a wonderful blog which I enjoy
very much. I sent her a recipe last year for gingerbread cookies
and she said when she saw this hanger she thought of me. Thank
you BJ for your thoughtful gift. I will find a special place for the
hanger, and I will definitely try the brown sugar when I start my
Christmas baking. I know we have not met in person but I can
say you are a true friend as are my other blogging friends. If you
wish to check her blog go to Sweet Nothings I know you will
enjoy it as much as I do.

CFA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Congratulations to Tabernacle Torches for the win last night. The
picture above is of the Junior class varsity players and cheerleaders.
My grandson, Adam, is on the right. Handsome fellow, but then I am
a little bit prejudiced.

NOVEMBER
"November comes and November goes, with the last red
berries and the first white snows.
With night coming early, and dawn coming late, and ice
in the bucket and frost by the gate.
The fires burn and the kettles sing, and earth sinks to
rest until next spring." ~Elizabeth Coatsworth~
It is hard to believe that November is here already. Where
has this year gone. It seems the older I get the faster
time flies. I will take down and put away my Halloween
decorations and put out my Thanksgiving decorations today.
Wishing all a very nice and blessed November.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN
It is that time of year again when all the little ghost and goblins
come out to get their treats. I remember fondly when I was a child
and we would go out trick or treating. Also our elementary school
always had a fun night for us costume judging contest, all kinds of
games and of course apple cider and donuts. We lived in a small
town and it was safe for we kids to walk to the school and back home.
Although when we got to our street we ran all the way home because of
some to the house had huge hedge bushes and it was kind of spooky. I
always had candy for the kids who came around when my children were
small and I took them out trick or treating. I miss those days. Last
year I did not have one person come to the door. This year will be the
same probably. I have candy but will more and likely give it to my
grandchildren when they come over. I still decorate for all the holidays.
The above picture is one of my decorations.
Have a safe and fun night.

PESTY WOODPECKER
I have a pesty woodpecker that has drilled holes in the trim boards
around my house. My son-in-law noticed the damage last week. My
son came over and looked at what the pesty woodpecker had done. He is
going to spray for bugs first then fill the holes in with wood putty
and then paint. I love God's creatures but dislike the damage they
can do.

HOW I HAVE BEEN SPENDING SOME OF MY TIME
When I am not doing housework or working out in the yard
this is what I have been doing in my spare time which I
have lots of. Crocheted a pink baby afghan for my doctor's
baby. Then I embroidered a pair of pillowcases which I
will more then likely give as a gift to someone for Christmas.
Next project will be to crochet a Christmas afghan for myself.

THE FIRST DAY OF OCTOBER
"There is no season when such pleasant and sunny spots may be
lighted on, and produce so pleasant an effect on the feelings,
as now in October." ~Nathaniel Hawthorne~
"October's the month when the smallest breeze gives us a
shower of autumn leaves. Bonfires and pumpkins, leaves
sailing down. October is red and golden and brown."~Author Unknown~
