BABY AFGHAN

This is the baby afghan I crochet for my friends
stepdaughter who is expecting a little boy the
end of December. I was not sure I could do it
since my left hand and arm are still a little weak
from my slight stoke back in March but I did. The
afghan is a variegated thread light blue, green and
white. My next project will be to embroider a pair
of pillowcases.

Yesterday my husband and I took a drive down
to the town of Auburn where Auburn University
is located. It was the first time I had been there
and found it very much a college town. We walked
the main street and it was intriguing how they
had put the names of coaches and players in the
the side walk. I enjoyed seeing some of the
University and although it was hot I enjoyed the
walk down the main street.

Sign in front of the University.
One of the buildings of the University.

Another building of the University

This is how they displayed the names on the
side walk. I did remember this coach.

I also remembered this coach.
Even though 3 of my grandchildren graduated
from the University of Alabama, it was nice
visiting their rival Auburn University. Who knows
I may have a grandchild who will attend Auburn
University.

FRIENDS ARE LIKE ANGELS

Friends

Our friends are like angels, who brighten
our days. In all kinds of wonderful, magical ways.

Their thoughtfulness comes, as a gift from above.
And we feel we're surrounded, by warm, caring love.

Like upside-down rainbows, their smiles bring the sun.
And they fill ho-hum moments, with laughter and fun.

Friends are like angels, without any wings. Blessing our
lives, with the most precious thing!

RAIN AT LAST

We finally got some rain.
Not much but at least it
was enough to give the
grass and flowers a drink.
I am praying for a little
more, we need it.

HAPPY FRIDAY THE 13TH

In case you are wondering, there is a technical
term for a fear of Friday the 13Th.....
Friggatriskaidekaphobia. Now you know.

Some people consider Friday the 13Th as unlucky
and some people consider it lucky. I would like
to hear your opinions.

PERFECT SUMMER DAY

A perfect summer day is
when the sun is shining,
the breeze is blowing, the
birds are singing, and the
lawn mower is broken.

PESKY CATERPILLAR

Tomato Hornworm--3-4 inch long green caterpillar
with diagonal lines on sides, prominent horn on
rear end. Eat foliage and may take bites out of
green fruit. They are the larvae of 2 large moths:
the Hawk moth and the Sphinx moth and over winter
in the soil in the pupal stage. Adult moths appear in
late spring and lay single, pearl colored eggs on the
undersides of plant leaves that hatch in about a
week. Larvae feed on foliage for about a month before
they enter the soil and pupate.

As you can see from this picture the caterpillar
ate a lot of the leaves off this tomato plant before
we discovered the pesky large green caterpillar.

UPDATE OF MYSTERY VINE

My mystery vine turned out to be a cantaloupe.
I had to cut into it and I tried it. It may have
been small but it was sweet. The vine now
is drying up because of no rain even though
we have been watering it every day. It still
has three more small cantaloupes on it. Hope
they survive and get a little larger.

WELCOME TO THE FIRST DAY OF AUGUST

"The brilliant poppy flaunts her head
Amdist the ripening grain, and adds
her voice to sell the song that August's
here again."
