SMILE

What sunshine is to flowers,
smiles are to humanity.
These are but trifles, to be
sure; but, scattered along
life's pathway, the good they
do is inconceivable.
~Joseph Addison~

Have a blessed Sunday and
a great week.

KIND HEARTS

Kind hearts are the gardens,
Kind thoughts are the roots,
Kind words are the flowers,
Kind deeds are the fruit,
Take care of your garden and
Keep out the weeds,
Fill it with sunshine, kind words
And kind deeds.
~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow~

INVASION OF THE STARLINGS

This morning I happened to glance out the window
and what to my wondering eyes did I see,
starlings, they covered the front yard, the back yard
and my neighbors yard. I love to watch them
so many in the flock and what a noise they make.
You can clap your hands and off they fly up to
the trees and another yard.

Neighbors yard
My back yard.

My driveway and neighbors yard.

PILLOWCASES - HAND EMBROIDERED

This is what I have been doing during the cold
weather we had for a couple of weeks. My
daughter, Deann, gave these pillowcases to me
as part of my Christmas gift. I was taught to
embroider as a very young girl and I still enjoy
enjoy doing it. I have another pair I am working
on now that my daughter, Debra, gave me. When
I am finished with them will post pictures. Click
on picture to enlarge for a better view.

A POEM----WINTER AGAIN

Winter Again
Another winter has come
your head and hands go numb
looking forward to the frost and snow
nights spent near the fire watching the embers glow
the cat snuggled in tight curl
a nice mug of warm chocolate
thaws out my nose and brings life back to my toes
as I climb the wooden hill
I think of all the nice things I like about this time of year

HOME IN THE HOLLOW

Home In The Hollow

There's a home in the hollow with a bubbling stream,
where I can lay down and dream and dream;
and I can go places where I've never been.
And I can be old or a young child again,
a home in the hollow where peace lives on,
where life can stand still with the breaking of dawn.

There's a home in the hollow with tall, tall trees,
where wee creatures live way high in the leaves;
and each night they gather on their porches to sing,
with the frogs and the crickets by the ponds and spring;
and all of the nightbirds join in on the song,
and the home in the hollow feels like it belongs.

There's a home in the hollow where the morning sunrise
is a great breathless wonder to the beholders eyes;
where a child can grow happy, wiser and strong,
and family ties can go on and on;
where people can share in the joys that they give,
at home in the hollow where the good people live.
~Frank Dycus~

I found this poem in back of one of my cook books, I
hope you all enjoy it.

I know I am a proud Mamaw
(that is what all my grandchildren
call me) . All my grandchildren
are very special to me. Now that
I have two great grandchildren they
are very special also. I do not get
to see them that often because they
live in Texas.
