HALLOWEEN TREATS

If my two grandsons come over trick-or-treating
I found these Little Debbie pumpkin cookies plus
a handful of miniature candy bars---mars bars,
milky way bars, and hershey bars. It is supposed
to rain on Halloween night so I may not have any
other trick-or-treaters but I am ready for them
if they should come a knocking on my door.

TEA AND FRIENDSHIP TUESDAY

"This is my wish for you;
Comfort on difficult days,
smiles when sadness intrudes,
rainbows to follow the clouds,
laughter to kiss your lips, sunsets
to warm your heart, hugs when
spirits sag, beauty for your eyes
to see, friendships to brighten
your being, faith so that you can
believe, confidence for when you
doubt, courage to know yourself,
patience to accept the truth, love
to complete your life."

FOUR LEAF CLOVERS

I do not know if these four leaf clovers are going
to bring me luck, but I was walking out in the
yard this afternoon and was lucky enough to
find these four all in the same clump of clover.
Thought I'd share them with all my friends.

HALLOWEEN BLOG PARTY

I was trying to think of something
to post on this the third day of the
Halloween Blog Party. As you all
know I am not the best of story -
tellers but here goes. As a young
girl growing up, and believe me
that was a long long time ago, we
would have a Halloween carnival
held at our elementary school on
Halloween night. We would all
dress up in our costumes and head
to the carnival. There was a costume
parade and a prize given for the best
girl and boy costume, usual script
to play the games or purchase food.
I do not remember ever winning but
that was ok I still had a good time. If
you are wondering what years that
all occurred it was in the late 1940's.
Times back then were so much simpler
and a child could treat-or treat around
their neighbor or attend a carnival without
any fear.

TEA AND FRIENDSHIP TUESDAY

You can make more friends
in two months by becoming
interested in other people
than you can in two years by
trying to get other people
interested in you.
~Dale Carnegie~

Wishing all a great Tea and
Friendship Tuesday.

HALLOWEEN BLOG PARTY

I am happy to join in
the fun of Halloween
Blog Party hosted by
fiberdoodles. Pictured
below are just few of my
Halloween decorations.

My opening into a small room off my dining
area is decorated with a bat that has purple
tinsel and a very ugly spider. The garland
around the opening is black with pumpkins.

This spider is sitting on my t.v. watching
everything going on in our great room.

The pumpkin on the left is a fiber-optic one
that when turned on lights up and turns different
colors.

This is one of two Halloween trees I have. I have
my whole house decorated as well as the outside.
I may be posting more pictures as this Halloween
blog party continues. Click on pictures to enlarge
for better viewing.

TEA AND FRIENDSHIP TUESDAY

On this Tea and Friendship
Tuesday I would like to share
a poem I found in the magazine
Reminisce. I hope you enjoy it.

Drinking From My Saucer

I've never made a fortune
and it's probably too late now.
But I don't worry about that much.
I'm happy anyhow.
And as I go along life's way,
I'm reaping better than I sowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

I don't have a lot of riches,
and sometimes the going's rough.
But I've got loved ones around me,
And that makes me rich enough.
I thank God for his blessings,
And the mercies he's bestowed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'cause my cup has overflowed.

I remember times when things went wrong,
My faith wore somewhat thin.
But all at once the dark clouds broke,
And the sun peeped through again.
So God, help me not gripe
About the tough rows that I've hoed.
I'm drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.

If God gives me strength and courage
When the way grows steep and rough,
I'll not ask for other blessings,
I'm already blessed enough.
And may I never be too busy
To help others bear their loads.
Then I'll keep drinking from my saucer,
'Cause my cup has overflowed.
~John Paul Moore~

Wishing you all a blessed Tea and
Friendship Tuesday.

VISIT TO HELEN KELLER'S BIRTHPLACE

Helen Keller's photo located in the hall of the
main house. She was a beautiful and talented
lady even though being both blind and deaf she
accomplished much in her life.

This is a photo of the main house. It had four
rooms downstairs and two upstairs. It is
furnished in lovely antiques and holds many of
Helen's personal memorabilia.

In back of the main house is this structure. It
is the kitchen on the left. On the right is where
the cook's bedroom was located.

Plaque explaining about the water pump
where Anne Sullivan, Helen's teacher, had her
first break through teaching Helen sign language.

Water pump where Helen, after many tries by
Anne Sullivan, Helen's teacher, finally got the
sign for WATER. After that she was a fast learner.

This is the two room cottage where Helen and
Anne lived by themselves so as not to have any
interference from Helen's family. Our tour guide
told us they drove Helen around for two hours
so she would not know she was living next to her
family.

US Postal stamp with Helen Keller and Anne
Sullivan's picture.

Lovely part of the garden with Helen's bust in
the middle surrounded by ponds.

This is a large tree with ivy climbing up it that
is in front of the cottage that Helen and Anne
lived.

Another very large tree. The plaque was
old and I could not read it so I do not know
what kind of tree it is.

This is a plaque for the tree picture below.

The Moon Tree.
We had a very nice and enjoyable day. We truly
learned a lot about Helen's life as a child. What
she went through to learn sign language. Her
going on to attend college, with Anne Sullivan by
her side. She did learn to speak and gave many
speeches to help the deaf and blind. Her birthplace
is located in Tuscumbia, Alabama. It is truly a
lovely place to visit. The grounds are beautiful
well kept up, as is the main house and the cottage.
Helen Keller a beautiful talented lady who did not
let her handicap get her down.

TEA AND FRIENDSHIP TUESDAYS

If a man does not make
new acquaintances as
he advances through life,
he will soon find himself
alone. A man should keep
his friendships in constant
repair.

AUTUMN

"Winter is an etching, spring a
watercolor, summer an oil
painting and autumn a mosaic
of them all"
~Stanley Horowitz~

An Autumn Day

Pumpkins in the cornfields, gold
among the brown, leaves of rust
and scarlet trembling slowly down;
birds that travel southward, lovely
time to play; nothing is as pleasant
as an autumn day!

OCTOBER

October gave a party; the leaves by
hundreds came. The chestnuts, oaks,
and maples, and leaves of every name.
The sunshine spread a carpet, and
everything was grand, Miss Weather
led the dancing, Professor Wind the band
